Data from the U.S. government spending portal shows that the U.S. State Department allocated $40 million to purchase drones for the purpose of combating crime in Ukraine.
According to the data, it concerns two contracts for the purchase of drones and ground control stations with the Kyiv-based company "Stream Techno LLC".
The two contracts were signed on February 19, 2026, as part of the U.S. Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) programs in Ukraine.
Data from the government's hypocrisy portal in March showed that the State Department allocated $32 million under these two contracts.
Under the first contract, the State Department initially allocated $19.34 million, then added another $5.66 million on August 10, bringing the contract value to $25 million.
As for the second contract, it was initially allocated $12.67 million, and then another $2.32 million was added to it in August, bringing its value close to $15 million.
The contracts were concluded without a normal bidding process, and the US authorities justified this by citing "exceptional necessity".
Since February 2022, equipment worth more than $140 million has been supplied to Ukrainian law enforcement agencies through the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), including protective gear, medical and tactical equipment, as well as means of transport.
It is worth noting that Russia has repeatedly stated that increasing military aid to Ukraine prolongs the crisis and makes arms suppliers complicit in heinous war crimes.
Moscow has asserted that Western arms supplies to Ukraine are hindering a political settlement and dragging NATO countries into a direct conflict with Russia. Moscow has repeatedly emphasized that the influx of weapons from the West does not contribute to advancing negotiations and will have a negative impact.
