Egyptian Mohamed Salah, who recently joined Trabzonspor, has become the subject of discussions in Turkish media and social media platforms, following the circulation of a photo and a spontaneous video clip of him during the filming of a promotional advertisement for the Turkish club.
The video clip showed Salah wearing a Trabzonspor jersey, standing in line with the camera crew and a number of attendees at the entrance of a public facility.
The footage was quickly shared widely by social media users and local websites, who pointed out that the player was simply waiting his turn without any special treatment.
Turkish reactions to this incident were divided. While many considered it a normal situation reflecting the player's humility and his simple approach to the conditions of field work, others criticized the club's management, considering the incident "unbecoming" of a global star of Salah's stature, according to what was published by the Turkish website "haberler" under a headline that asked: "What a great shame for Salah! If this is true, we have exposed ourselves to the world."
On the other hand, many defended the photo, pointing out that such spontaneous moments are what made Salah popular around the world, far removed from pretension and traditional stardom protocols.
Salah had signed a two-year contract with Trabzonspor, in a deal described as historic for the Turkish league.
According to the club's official statement, the Egyptian star will receive a guaranteed financial package of 17 million euros per season.
