10,000 humanoid robots annually: A Chinese factory relies on "robots that make robots

The Chinese company UBTECH Robotics announced via the WeChat social network the launch of the world's first factory that will allow the production of up to 10,000 humanoid robots per year.

The company noted that the unique facility is located in Liuzhou, a city in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of southern China. The factory employs high-tech production methods, with robots assembling the "terminator" (a humanoid robot) and other factory robots handling components, loading, and unloading.

However, the factory is able to guarantee the production of a new robot in just 10 minutes, and each new model undergoes a rigorous 4-hour test.

The most common humanoid robots assembled at the Ubitek Robotics factory are known to be the "Cruzr" and "Walker S" models. The industrial facility covers an area of 14,000 square meters.

The factory employs an advanced production model where humanoid robots, not just humans, participate in the manufacturing process. Robots like the "Cruzr Y1" and "Cruzr S2" handle tasks such as unloading and stacking materials, and loading and transporting components. The final assembly lines utilize collaborative robots, assistive robotic arms, autonomous logistics vehicles, and 360-degree rotating worktables to ensure assembly accuracy fr

  

Flexibility: The factory supports flexible mixed production of multiple models on the same production line, eliminating the need for complex changes when launching a new design.

Each assembled robot undergoes a continuous test lasting over four hours, encompassing its entire electromechanical system. Following this, it passes through a vehicle-standard optical inspection tunnel, meticulously examining its exterior in 360-degree detail without any blind spots. The factory also boasts a comprehensive tracking system for each robot, using a unique serial number that links suppliers, production batches, assembly data, and testing records.

The factory was built in collaboration between Ubitek Robotics and Siemens Digital Industries Software, providing an integrated digital operations management system known as the factory's "intelligent brain." This system handles work order scheduling, material distribution, quality control, and warehouse management.

Ubitek Robotics has developed the first 3D-printed automated warehouse specifically designed for humanoid robots. Despite its small footprint of just 65 square meters, it can store 112 robots, improving space utilization by over 50%. The facility also boasts a fleet of autonomous vehicles, self-propelled forklifts, and logistics vehicles that connect all stages of assembly, testing, and storage.
