Elon Musk claimed that artificial intelligence is the key to achieving high "inclusive" wages for all the world's population.
The world's richest man, a longtime supporter of artificial intelligence, said on his social media platform X on Monday that artificial intelligence is "the only way" to achieve wealth for the entire world's population.
He said: "The welfare state and free immigration will inevitably bankrupt any country. Artificial intelligence + robots is the only way to achieve a high inclusive income for everyone on Earth."
These sensational claims come at a time when concerns about artificial intelligence and its potential to cause human extinction have been making headlines in recent days.
Jacob Cookson, a former Anthropic employee, started the latest debate about the dangers of artificial intelligence when he resigned from the company, the developer of the chatbot Cloud, claiming that it and its main competitor OpenAI were not acting "responsibly".

Cookson resigned on September 8, telling his colleagues on Slack that he was sad to say goodbye to his fellow "ants," the nickname given to Anthropic staff. In his message, he continued: "Like all of you, I believe that without international coordination we risk causing human extinction. I have recently become increasingly concerned about the degree and imminence of this risk."
In his warning on the X platform, Cookson stated that the "arms race" in artificial intelligence could seriously threaten human civilization. He wrote, "The people building AI genuinely believe it could kill us all by the end of the decade."
In response, Ivan Hobinger, head of AI matching research at Anthropic, said his former colleague's assessment was "correct," adding: "We genuinely believe that AI could kill all humans. I personally think the probability is over 10% within the next decade. I think Anthropic is doing its best, but we don't yet have a plan to solve the matching problem for superintelligence, and we are clearly not on the right track."
Musk’s latest announcement comes as a surprise after he publicly endorsed calls to slow the development of artificial intelligence. He and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman sided with Anthropic co-founder Dario Amode after Amode wrote an article titled “We Must Set the Pace of the Frontier,” in which he outlined his concerns about the speed of AI development. Amode even warned that AI could command a swarm of agents and take over the internet within six months to a year.
He said: "I think if slowing down gives us an additional year or two before the models reach critical levels of capability, and we use that time to enhance alignment, we can greatly reduce the risk of a major error."
In response, Musk, whose "Groc" robot made headlines after being used by social media users to create images of women, mostly without clothes, wrote: "Dario is right."
During his virtual participation in the All-In Summit, Musk had proposed a mechanism to ensure the safety of advanced smart models, based on the principle of "peer review" between companies, where each company tests its competitors' models before releasing them to the public, allowing for the reporting of any safety concerns.
