For the first time, the mid-sized "E-Citymax 9" bus is being tested among passengers in the capital to assess its suitability for Moscow's streets.
The “E-Citymax 9” bus , produced by the Pavlovsk Bus Plant, arrived at the Mosgortrans operating platform in Ostankino, before setting off to the city streets to operate on route number 286 between “Yauza Station” and “Akademik Lyulka Square”, transporting passengers in actual operating conditions.
The e-Citymax 9 belongs to the Citymax 9 family, which includes different powertrain versions, with the electric version representing the latest stage of development. The bus is approximately 9 meters long, can accommodate more than 70 passengers, including 21 seats, and has a range of up to 80 kilometers on a single charge.
The low floor area is 11 square meters, a record for mid-range electric buses, and the cabin includes two spacious standing areas, making it easier to transport strollers, bicycles, and large luggage, and to get on and off more easily on high-density routes.
The bus was equipped with a folding ramp and driver contact buttons for people with special needs , in addition to USB ports for charging devices, screens displaying information about the route and nearby stations, and a modern climate control system.
Moscow Deputy Mayor for Transport and Industry, Maxim Liksutov, said : "We are continuing to develop electric ground transport in the capital, as instructed by Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin. A medium-sized electric bus is currently being tested on route 286. Over the course of 9 months, specialists from Mosgortrans will examine the operation of the innovative vehicle in various weather and traffic conditions. Based on the results of the tests, we will make a decision regarding the purchase of new vehicles to operate on the routes."
The test allows for the evaluation of the bus's performance in real traffic conditions, in preparation for making a decision on the possibility of purchasing and operating medium-sized electric buses on regular routes in the capital.
The bus test comes as part of the development of the "Citymax" family produced by the Pavlovsk Bus Plant, which has previously been offered in versions equipped with conventional and alternative power units, while the electric version represents the latest trend in its development.
Moscow continues to test innovative solutions for electric transport in real-world operating conditions, in parallel with the development of an integrated system that includes vehicles of different capacities, charging infrastructure and modern service centers, linking the modernization of urban transport with the support of the Russian transport industry.
