Artificial intelligence has become the most prominent point of contention among world leaders in recent days, whether in the sessions of the United Nations and the Security Council , or even in the bilateral summit that took place between US President Donald Trump and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping .

While the official announcements of the bilateral summit were limited to agreeing to establish the first bilateral channel for monitoring artificial intelligence incidents between the two countries, talk about the technology occupied a large part of it.
The US president hosted the Chinese delegation at a historic official dinner attended by a number of the most prominent technology leaders in the artificial intelligence sector, and included lengthy discussions about artificial intelligence and its implications.
The dinner guest list included a number of prominent names such as Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and his wife, as well as SpaceX CEO Elon Musk , and even former Apple CEO Tim Cook , along with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Google co- founder Sergey Brin, Microsoft Chairman Satya Nadella, and AMD CEO Eliza Su.
These attendees work directly in the artificial intelligence sector, whether by presenting their own models such as Altman, Brin and Musk, or even by supporting and investing in data centers such as Huang and Nadella, and they also have direct relationships with the technology sector in China.
Despite international calls from leaders of major countries at the United Nations to make the decision to regulate artificial intelligence international, the Chinese state-run press has assigned responsibility for managing and developing artificial intelligence solely to Washington and Beijing.
The Yuyuantian account of China's state television network stated on social media that artificial intelligence is a common challenge for China and the United States , and argued that the two countries are capable of addressing the risks associated with it.
The account's posts are consistent with the statements made by the US president in his opening address to the recent United Nations General Assembly, when he said that the United States rejects any global efforts to regulate and control artificial intelligence.
Agreement on the new name
The White House issued a statement in recent days revealing the results of the Trump-Xi summit, most notably the agreement of the two countries to use the name superintelligence instead of artificial intelligence, in line with the new name approved by the US president.
The two sides also agreed to hold a second summit next November to discuss the risks and benefits of artificial intelligence, according to a report published by the Axios news agency.
It is worth noting that Trump announced the new name for artificial intelligence technology in his opening speech at the United Nations General Assembly, calling on all countries and companies to adopt the new term, which, in his view, better expresses the technology.
