During its annual developer conference, RDC 2026, which concluded two days ago in San Jose, California , the company revealed a package of updates, including the ability to play games directly through browsers without the need to install the application, in addition to launching an offline gaming mode.
It also announced the launch of the "Roblox Card" to provide players with faster and more flexible access to earnings.
Until now, players and developers had to submit a request to convert Robux – the platform’s virtual currency – into dollars once they reached a certain threshold, and then wait for long periods until the conversion was completed.
Co-founder and CEO David Pazoki said the move is part of efforts to attract new players and retain content creators on the platform, particularly the adult demographic, which makes up "a huge part of the market."
The wallet will be available starting next December to players aged 18 and over in the United States , and will be rolled out internationally in 2027, coinciding with the launch of a payment card linked to it.
Roblox stated that it has paid out more than $5 billion to players and developers since 2013, including $1.7 billion in the past 12 months.
The company stated that the wallet will be available during 2027 to teenagers with the approval of their parents, and the payment card will be available to any wallet owner.
The Roblox card is also linked to the wallet to allow developers to spend their available balance directly anywhere cards are accepted.
Users will then be able to distribute their games as standalone applications on mobile phones, computers, and gaming platforms, while Roblox handles the technology management.
Play offline
Roblox also plans to add an offline gameplay mode, where players will be able to play while on the subway, plane, or in places with poor internet coverage.
During the next year, users will be able to activate offline single-player mode alongside live multiplayer mode, and fully offline play will be available by mid-2027.
New AI tools
The platform revealed that it is expanding the "Build" tool in the app, which allows anyone to create and publish a game via text commands.
