The rumor prompted Real Madrid to act quickly and issue a decisive official statement to deny the news and put an end to the controversy.

Real Madrid has confirmed that it categorically denies the reports circulating about issuing instructions to prevent the entry of Spanish flags, or the flags of autonomous regions and cities in the country, into the Santiago Bernabéu stadium.

The club explained that its internal regulations comply with the laws and legislation in force in Spain, stressing that the entry of all official flags of the country into the stadium was and still is permitted without any restrictions.

This clarification comes just hours before the anticipated European match, in an attempt by the club's management to end the controversy and prevent the Bernabeu stands from being turned into an arena for political conflict, far removed from the atmosphere of the match.

The controversy surrounding Real Madrid's stance coincided with a crisis sparked by Barcelona during their match against Elche, after an incident occurred with a fan who was carrying the "Estelada" flag associated with the Catalan independence movement.

Barcelona issued a statement expressing its rejection of what it described as the "excessive and unjustified use of force" by the National Police during their dealings with a member of the club and its fans near the Martinez Valero stadium.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta and team player Xavi also entered the fray, announcing their support for the fan and his family, in a case that has become a subject of widespread controversy within Spanish sports circles.

In this tense atmosphere, Real Madrid chose to clarify its position directly, confirming that its fans will not face any ban regarding the entry of Spanish flags or the official flags of the various regions of the country into the Santiago Bernabéu.
