US technology giant Google is facing a whopping fine of 403 million euros for violating European Union regulations on handling location data.

In addition to the fine, the Silicon Valley-based company is required to bring its location data processing into compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation within six months.
this decision was taken after an investigation was conducted by the Irish Data Protection Commission (DPC) as the main regulator in managing privacy regulations in this region.
They began investigating the handling of location data in 2020 after receiving complaints from consumer rights groups.
The DPC examined how Google handled location data between May 2018 and February 2020 related to three features: Web & App Activity, which stores user activity across various Google services; Location History, an optional feature that shows a timeline of where users have been with their phones; and Location Accuracy, which determines the location of an Android device more accurately than using GPS alone.
