Syrian national mixed martial arts player Hamza Al-Haj Ali achieved a historic Syrian accomplishment by winning the bronze medal in the World Youth Mixed Martial Arts Championship.
Hamza Al-Haj Ali was the first Syrian athlete to achieve this feat and reach this advanced world ranking, according to what the Syrian Kickboxing and Mixed Martial Arts Federation stated on its Facebook page yesterday, Saturday.
Al-Hajj Ali’s crowning came after a strong run in the tournament competitions, during which he achieved three consecutive victories that led him to the semi-finals, before his journey stopped at this stage following his loss to Uzbek Shahriar Rahmonov, ending his participation in third place and winning the bronze medal.
The Syrian champion began his journey by defeating Finland’s Aron Situnen in the first round, then overcame Montenegro’s Djordje Božinović in the second round, before continuing his positive results by defeating Ukraine’s Serhiy Sobyshanski in the third round, to secure his place in the semi-finals.
On August 26, Al-Hajj Ali won the bronze medal at the World Youth Mixed Martial Arts Championships held in the UAE capital, Abu Dhabi. This was the seventh World Youth Mixed Martial Arts Championships organized by the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMA).
The IMMAF World Youth Mixed Martial Arts Championships, organized by the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF), is one of the most prominent global events for this category. Its seventh edition was held in Zayed Sports City in Abu Dhabi from August 17 to 23, with the participation of about 1,100 male and female players from 55 countries.
