Ayman Hussein, the striker for the Iraqi national team and Uzbek club Pakhtakor, sparked controversy on social media after posting pictures of himself eating a meal of horse meat.
The Iraqi striker posted pictures of the meal on his Snapchat account, prompting a fan to react and object to eating horse meat, deeming it "haram" (forbidden).
But the Iraqi star responded to the fan's comment, explaining that horse meat is not forbidden but rather "disliked".
The image quickly spread among the player's followers regarding dietary habits and rulings related to consuming this type of meat, sparking considerable controversy.
Ayman Hussein is 30 years old and plays as a striker. He joined Pakhtakor Tashkent in the summer of 2016 after having previous stints with several clubs. He is also considered one of the most prominent strikers of the Iraqi national team in recent years.
