Mahmoud Abdel-Razek "Shikabala", the former captain of Zamalek, sent a strong message after the Brazilian Juan Bezerra, the team's star, officially left for the Emirati club Shabab Al-Ahli.
Shikabala said in statements on the “Football with Fayek” program: “As a fan, what has the administration done to give the impression to people and the public that this is Zamalek? Bezerra should have come to the club, trained, committed, and left at the club’s request this season or the next.”
He added: "Zamalek issued a statement that Bezerra is not for sale. When the statement was released, did you have money at that time? What changed after two weeks? Zamalek is not an investment club. Everyone who wants to leave can leave. This is abnormal."
He continued: "The board of directors made a fool of the public when they issued a statement not to sell Bezerra. The administration should know the value of Zamalek Club. Pyramids will win the league title in the end, and (I say to Captain Moataz Gamal, continue and we support you)."
He pointed out that Bezerra's departure would not be subject to criticism if Zamalek was able to buy another player in his place, explaining that the White Castle does not represent an investment club that would allow several players to leave its ranks without compensation.
He added: "Zizo left, Imam Ashour left, Hazem Imam retired, and I retired, but Zamalek did not stop."
He stressed that Zamalek’s fans are the true backbone of the club and support the team with all their might, and they are the key to the team’s victories.
He concluded by saying: "The current board does not know the value of Zamalek, they belittled the club and laughed at the fans after they promised not to sell Bezerra and then backed down without reason."
