Rezaei explained that the conditions include ending the war on all fronts, lifting the freeze on Iranian funds, and ending the naval blockade, adding that consultations are ongoing with Qatari and Pakistani mediators, and that Tehran is awaiting a response from US President Donald Trump.
Iran called on the United States to abide by the terms of the “Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding,” which was concluded with Pakistani mediation on June 17, but has not yet entered into force.
Iranian Interior Ministry spokesman Ali Zeynovand said that Pakistani mediation and international diplomatic initiatives are ongoing, stressing that the Islamabad memorandum of understanding represents a “sovereign decision” approved by Iran’s supreme leadership. He called on the United States to respect the agreement and abide by its terms, emphasizing that Tehran wants Washington to return to it.
In the same context, Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar discussed today with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araqchi the latest regional developments, stressing the importance of continued energy supplies and ensuring the safe and rapid passage of ships, in light of the repercussions of the developments on developing countries and global supply chains.
Dar stressed that dialogue and diplomacy remain the only viable means to ensure peace and stability in the region, while both sides agreed to continue close cooperation and to meet in New York on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
