Barcelona's statement read: "Medical tests have confirmed that first-team player Andreas Christensen has a muscle strain in his left thigh. His return to training will be determined based on the pace of his recovery."

Christensen left the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan stadium during the match against Sevilla (1-3) due to injury in the 58th minute, following a collision with Sevilla player Robin Orne. The Danish defender requested the intervention of the medical staff, who recommended that coach Hansi Flick replace him immediately.

This setback continues Christensen's series of injuries that have plagued him over the past two seasons, as he missed 32 matches with club and country in the 2025/2026 season due to a cruciate ligament injury and calf problems, after missing 53 matches in the 2024/2025 season due to Achilles tendon injuries and recurring muscle problems.

This injury represents a technical loss for the Catalan team, especially since the 29-year-old defender had regained his starting position in coach Hansi Flick's options at the beginning of this season, participating in 7 out of 8 matches played by the team in various competitions
