Coinciding with the secret and brief visit of the head of the occupation government, Benjamin Netanyahu, to the Emirates, a new Arab warning to him was revealed days before the “Al-Aqsa flood,” in which the Egyptian intelligence minister, Abbas Kamel, made a direct telephone call to him, in addition to his previous visit to Israel and his meeting with his Israeli counterparts.
The American confirmed last night, on the authority of Arab officials, what namely that Abbas Kamel had called Netanyahu at the beginning of October and informed him of Hamas’s intention to carry out a large-scale attack from Gaza.
Netanyahu was informed in September 2023 of indications of a Hamas plot, through UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed, who called Netanyahu, who was not convinced by the warning.
The American newspaper noted that the sources' warnings did not include details about the timing and scale of a potential attack. It recalled Abbas Kamel's whirlwind visit to Tel Aviv in September 2023, during which he delivered a clear warning to Israeli officials, telling them that the situation in Gaza was dire and would soon explode in their faces.
Abbas Kamel that "the situation is under control." The addition to Egypt, the UAE had warned Israel of this danger and shared its intelligence with the United States, explaining that the tone and manner of threats from Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar had changed, and that contacts between Hamas and Islamic Jihad had intensified.
However, Netanyahu ignored all these warnings because of his underestimation of the Palestinian side and his bet that Hamas was deterred and desired calm, and because of his bet on the role of continuing the “status quo” in perpetuating the dangerous division between the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, until his policies exploded in his face and were shaken by the “Al-Aqsa flood” and undermined Israel’s prestige.
Today’s Haaretz cartoon expresses the danger of Netanyahu ignoring all these successive warnings, as Netanyahu appears to be driving a bus full of Israelis at a speed that tramples on traffic signs warning of the roughness of the road until it falls into the abyss.
Purposes of the visit
Against the backdrop of revelations that he ignored warnings of a security earthquake, Netanyahu made a secret visit to the UAE yesterday, Sunday, which lasted for hours. This is his second visit to this Gulf state in five months, as he made a secret visit last May which he then exposed by leaking it to the Hebrew press for his own purposes.
Yesterday's visit also comes against the backdrop of a growing rapprochement between Israel and the UAE. Israel previously provided the UAE with an Iron Dome missile defense system, along with Israeli activation crews and security assistance, at the height of the conflict with Iran. Therefore, it was no coincidence that the UAE (and Bahraini) ambassadors remained in the General Assembly hall during Netanyahu's speech last week, while the vast majority of other delegations left.
The whirlwind visit to the UAE appears to stem from a shared Israeli-Emirati desire to reignite the American war against Iran, and therefore it is not unlikely that it falls within the framework of covert coordination and cooperation in this regard. The leaders of the occupation no longer visit Arab states for peace, but rather in the context of a war of annihilation launched in response to Hamas attacks, a war they themselves do not wish to end, unlike previous Israeli officials such as Shimon Peres, whose tenth death anniversary is being commemorated today, who at least feigned a pursuit of peace.
Netanyahu has been making secret visits to Arab countries as the head of an Israeli Sparta that may turn into a new “Masada”, according to a warning from prominent Israeli political commentator in “Yedioth Ahronoth”, Nahum Barnea, who warns against policies that rely solely on force and military arrogance.
Emirati relief
Such secret visits, coinciding with the continuation of the war of extermination, highlight Israel’s shift towards a state of savagery and disregard for everything outside of it, just as they indicate the reality of Arab countries and their abandonment of the Palestinian cause, both secretly and openly.
