Real Madrid have officially opened an exceptional disciplinary case against Asensio following the legal problems he has recently faced related to an incident of driving under the influence of alcohol.

The defender was stopped at an alcohol checkpoint at 6:30 a.m. on August 16 in southern Gran Canaria while driving under the influence of alcohol, a situation that forced the club's management to take urgent action.

According to the Spanish website "Defensa Central", Real Madrid imposed a large financial penalty on Asensio, the value of which will be deducted from his salary during the coming months.

The Spanish website confirmed: "Asensio has already received the financial penalty from Real Madrid following the disciplinary proceedings that were opened against him."

The report indicated that the fine is close to 100,000 euros.

The report explained that Real Madrid officials did not only take into account the traffic violation committed by the player, but their biggest concern was the great damage that the matter caused to the club’s reputation.

The timing of the incident also contributed to the severity of the punishment after Asensio was caught driving drunk late at night, behavior the club deemed irresponsible on the part of a professional footballer.

It should be noted that coach Jose Mourinho decided to call him up for the Rayo Vallecano match scheduled for today, Saturday, in his first appearance on the team's roster this season, opening the door for his return to participation.
