The Spanish newspaper AS reported that Real Madrid's channel highlighted the refereeing errors in yesterday's match against Real Betis, insisting that Bartra's foot was touching the penalty area line at the moment the kick was taken, and that he then entered the area, which directly affected the course of the game, according to their claim.
The channel noted that Betis player Hector Bellerin also appeared to have one of his feet touching the penalty area line.
The channel harshly criticized the refereeing performance, describing referee Hernandez Hernandez's performance as inconsistent and expressing surprise that he was a referee who did not know the rules of his profession.
The channel reported: "If that had happened with Barcelona, the penalty kick would have been retaken, but Carlos Espi's goal had been scored for Barcelona and it most likely would not have been disallowed."
The channel believes that the issue of not retaking the penalty kick came as a result of oversight or incompetence, and although the referee insisted that Marc Bartra did not touch the penalty area line, the club argued that even if that did not happen, he used the ground to start, which means that he also interfered with the game.
The channel also criticized the video technology referee for not alerting Hernandez Hernandez to the need to retake the penalty kick according to the video technology protocol and insisted in the end: "The penalty kick should have been retaken."
