The Russian men’s team achieved a well-deserved victory over their Maltese counterparts in the final (fourth) round of the group stage of the 4x4 World Water Polo Championships currently being held in Dubrovnik, Croatia.
The match, which was held as part of the “L” group competitions, ended with the Russian team winning three sets to zero (3-0), as the results of the sets came as follows: (4-2, 2-1, 3-2).
With this victory, the Russian team officially qualified for the knockout stage (play-offs), with the identity of their next opponent to be determined later.
It is worth noting that the World Water Polo Championship is being held for the first time under this new system (4x4), with competitions continuing from August 31 to September 6.
