The second “Latakia Marathon” kicked off yesterday evening, Saturday, in Syria, with its course extending within the city, with the participation of about 3,000 young men and women, on the occasion of World Tourism Day.
The marathon, sponsored by the Ministry of Tourism and the Latakia Governorate, and jointly organized by the Directorate of Tourism and the Directorate of Youth and Sports, witnessed a remarkable sporting and youth presence, reflecting the interaction of the participants with the event and its atmosphere within the framework of a celebration that combines sports and the desire to showcase the tourist face of the city of Latakia
The marathon was remarkable for the participation of a wide range of different age groups of Syrians who were keen to make the event a success, and the organizing body was keen to ensure their safety in accordance with approved medical procedures.
