The mastermind behind the robbery of Italian goalkeeper Donnarumma's home and his pregnant partner, who held two hostages in their Parisian apartment in July 2023, was sentenced to nine years in prison by a court decision.
Donnarumma, the current goalkeeper for Manchester City, was severely beaten during the robbery, while his then-fiancée and current wife, Alicia Elefante, was strangled with a cable and later suffered a miscarriage due to the trauma of the incident.
The newspaper "Marca" reported that the court sentenced 21-year-old Elias Kharbouch, nicknamed "Ganetto," to nine years in prison and a fine of 80,000 euros for his role in the attack.
As for the second defendant, Khian M., whom the Public Prosecution also suspected of orchestrating the robbery from inside his prison cell, he was acquitted of the charge.
On July 21, 2023, in the dead of night, Donnarumma and his fiancée, Alicia Elefante, were suddenly awakened to find themselves being held captive by four masked men who had broken into their luxury ninth-floor apartment through the rooftops.
Within minutes, a group of seven men, some of whom were not identified, looted cash, jewelry, watches, and luxury bags, which the Italian national team goalkeeper estimated to be worth slightly less than one million euros.
This horrific robbery took place in one of the capital's most prestigious neighborhoods, on Avenue Montaigne, which "has become a target of increasingly youthful crime (the large number of young criminals)," as the public prosecutor detailed during his argument before listing the names of the seven celebrities who were targeted in home robberies between 2022 and 2025.
The prosecution added that this highly lucrative and extremely violent crime targets the very stars he himself encourages, linking the footballer's brilliant career to a completely different career path for young people who are sinking into crime.
