The European Volleyball Confederation has allowed Russia’s men’s and women’s national teams to return to continental competitions under its umbrella, according to an announcement by the Russian Volleyball Federation on its official website.

The decision includes both indoor and beach volleyball competitions, with the 2027 Nations League expected to be the first continental tournament to feature Russian volleyball teams after this decision.
The Russian Volleyball Federation stated: "During the General Assembly of the European Volleyball Confederation, the Continental Authority's Board of Directors made a decision to allow the Russian men's and women's national teams to return to competition in tournaments held under the auspices of the Continental Federation."
For his part, the president of the Russian Volleyball Federation, Stanislav Shevchenko, welcomed the continental body's decision, saying: "We welcome the European Union's decision to lift the ban on Russian national teams and support the decision issued by the International Federation... We now await the adoption of the conditions and regulatory procedures for the return."
Shevchenko added: "The Russian Federation is fully prepared to work constructively to ensure the national teams can fully return to international competitions with the national symbol, flag and anthem as soon as possible. The issue of the return of Russian clubs to European competitions also remains at the top of our priorities, and we are waiting for our colleagues in the European Union to clarify the timing and mechanism for our clubs' return to the continental arena."
The European Union's decision comes as an extension of the step taken by the International Volleyball Federation on July 8 to open the door for the return of Russian teams, following the International Olympic Committee's decision to cancel its previous recommendations to international federations regarding imposing restrictions on Russian athletes.
