The Vice President of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, Tariq Saleh, directed the armed forces on the western coast to reorganize their ranks, coinciding with the formation of a joint forces command center as an alternative south of the city of Mocha, in the west of the country, following Houthi incursions on a number of battlefronts.

The military media of the National Resistance in Yemen quoted Saleh, who is also the commander of the resistance on the West Coast, as saying, “The joint forces on the West Coast, including the National Resistance, the Giants, the Homeland Shield, and the Taiz Axis units, paid a heavy price, martyrs and wounded, during their confrontation with the Houthi attack, which was planned, supported, and participated in by Iran and its various tools.”
He added that the forces were directed to form “an alternative command center in a safe location to regroup the forces in consultation with the Arab Coalition leadership and the command council.”
This comes after the Houthi advance opened the door for their forces to move towards Mocha, and was represented by tightening control over Al-Waziyah, through which they controlled the Mocha-Taiz road, which is the main supply artery. This was followed by full control over Hays district, leading to the completion of control over Al-Khokha, in addition to the Mawza junction in Mawza district. Before that, they had taken control of Khalid base, which is the largest military base on the coast; so the fall of Mocha was a “foregone conclusion”.
Sources suggest that the differences among the pro-government factions, which are not headed by a single leadership and were in their positions there, were a factor that contributed to the rapid collapse of their formations in the face of the strong fire attack by the “Ansar Allah” forces. The rapid withdrawal came after they were besieged and the supply routes fell, without a plan ready to confront the sudden situation.
It is worth noting that Jaber Mohammed, advisor to Presidential Leadership Council member Abdulrahman Al-Mahrami, commented informally on what happened in Mocha, saying that “tactical withdrawal is one of the methods of managing military operations, and it is a well-considered operational procedure that military leaders resort to according to the requirements of the field situation, with the aim of preserving combat capability and reducing attrition.”
Brigadier General Abed Al-Thawr, a leader in the Ministry of Defense of the Ansar Allah (Houthi) government, said that what he called the “victory” in Mocha “was not surprising.”
He added that “this approach also aims to reorganize military units, achieve repositioning, and create the appropriate conditions to regain the initiative and continue military operations at a more suitable time and under more favorable circumstances.”
In a statement, Brigadier General Abed Al-Thawr, a leader in the Ministry of Defense of the Ansar Allah (Houthi) government, said that what he called the “victory” in Mocha “was not surprising,” but rather “the result of the battles of the past few days, most notably the battle of Al-Waziyah, which ended with the control of the Taiz-Mocha road, and thus Mocha was completely cut off from Taiz, and this was one of the most important factors that contributed to the withdrawal of the enemy forces and the entry of our forces, after cutting off the main supply line.”
He added: “In addition to the disruption that was found in the ranks of the opposing forces as a result of the collapse of supply lines and the implementation of unsuccessful military operations by them, the liberation of Hays and Al-Khokha was another blow in the context of the operations to tighten the siege on Al-Mukha.”
He said: “With the liberation of Hays and Al-Khokha, it became easier to clear the remaining areas, so our forces continued to advance, which pushed their forces to the path of withdrawal. In the midst of those battles, the presidential pardon decision, issued on Wednesday evening, coinciding with those battles, was an important factor in pushing many of their forces to withdraw, after all their forces were surrounded from all sides. Many of them withdrew towards Tur Al-Baha, and some of them returned to their areas in Hays and others.”
