The head of the African House in Grozny, the capital of the Russian Republic of Chechnya, Jose Fernando Sambo, announced that the number of African students in Russian universities has reached a record high of 37,000 students.

Fernando Sambo, who also serves as the head of the Department of Relations with Government Bodies and Diplomatic Missions of African Countries at the International African Congress, said on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum that the study represents one of the priority areas for cooperation between Russia and Africa, and has shown good results.
He added: "The number of African students currently studying in Russia is 37,000. This is a very large number for African countries."
According to Sambu, joint education and exchange programs between Russian and African universities are of great interest because they "will allow us to train more specialists needed for the development of the African continent."
The Eastern Economic Forum kicked off in Vladivostok last Tuesday, with the event being held under the slogan "The Far East - Development for Humanity".
The forum's program includes more than 70 sessions covering topics such as the development of the Russian Far East, attracting investments, international cooperation, technology, logistics, and infrastructure.
