The Indonesian women's national basketball team rose two places from eighth to sixth after completing their competition at the 2026 Asian Games (AG) in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, improving their position compared to the 2022 edition in Hangzhou.

This improvement is a positive note for the development of women's basketball, after the team coached by Gitautas Kievinas managed to maintain its achievement of reaching the quarter-finals of the Asian Games.
"This is a motivating note for everyone to take steps and make improvements for even more impressive achievements in the future," said Nirmala Dewi, Secretary General of the Indonesian Basketball Association Central Executive Board.
He explained that Lea Kahol and her teammates had secured sixth place in the 2026 Asian Games, one spot below the Philippines. The top four spots were shared by South Korea, China, Taiwan, and Japan. The final rankings will be awaited after the tournament's final results.
Meanwhile, the seventh to 11th positions are filled by Mongolia, Thailand, Kazakhstan, Hong Kong, and Malaysia respectively.
