Claudio Tapia, president of the Argentine Football Association, stated that Messi accepted the invitation, noting that all the players who were on the squad that won the World Cup in Qatar in 2022, as well as their families, were invited to attend the final "tango" of the world's best player.
Tickets for the match were released via the "Deportick" platform at 6 pm local time on Thursday amid a huge public demand, as the platform witnessed thousands of fans entering virtual waiting lists from the first minutes.
The Argentine newspaper Clarin confirmed that the tickets were completely sold out in about an hour and a half, a fact also confirmed by the newspapers Diario Popular and Olé, which indicated that the sale process took about 90 minutes.
The newspaper "La Nazione" reported that some fans faced waiting times exceeding an hour, along with complaints on social media due to the difficulties some encountered while accessing the ticket booking platform.
Tickets for the match were scheduled to go on sale earlier in the week, before the Argentine Football Association decided to postpone their release for 48 hours, with sales starting on Thursday evening.
The player, who has won the World Player of the Year award eight times, won the World Cup title four years ago and also participated in the finals of the 2014 and 2016 World Cups, and won the Copa America title twice.
The match against Benin is the last of three friendly matches that the Argentine national team will play during the current international break, in addition to a match against Bolivia next Wednesday in Cordoba and another match against Burkina Faso on the third of next month in Buenos Aires.
