TikTok has announced a range of new tools aimed at improving the user experience, including voice comments, polls, and the ability to post multiple photos in comments.
Voice comments will soon be available to users over 18, allowing them to record voice messages of up to 60 seconds under any video, which anyone can click on to listen.
While this feature may be a welcome addition, it could turn the comments section into chaos, which will become apparent over time.
The platform also allows creators to create comment polls in the comments section of their posts, with the ability to display up to 5 options and track the results directly in the comments section.
This feature is currently available to users around the world, after the platform had previously tested a similar idea using stickers and during live broadcasts.
The third update concerns photo captions. Users can now upload Live Photos from their camera roll—images that include movement and sound for a few seconds before and after the photo is taken. This feature is currently available. The platform will also increase the number of photos that can be posted in a single caption to nine, in a carousel format, with this feature expected to roll out next month.
These additions are part of a series of recent updates to TikTok, which included the ability to book travel services directly from the platform, and the addition of a "Local Feed" based on the user's location (Local Feed - meaning locally targeted posts that target the audience based on their geographical location to increase interaction).
