In a post on his Truth Social account, Trump said he would not stand by and allow the "destruction or annihilation" of AI to occur.
"We will not hinder or hinder the development of this incredible industry. Instead, we will celebrate it, help it, and watch it as it develops! But we will also look for the BAD stuff, and we can do that very easily, with our existing Criminal and Civil Justice Systems," Trump said.
Trump also described AI as the next Industrial Revolution or the Internet, and said it could potentially contribute up to 25 percent of the US gross domestic product.
Trump did not provide details about the structure of the planned "AI Force" or the role of the "AI Czar."
The announcement comes amid growing debate in the US about the rapid development of AI and its potential risks.
