"At the request of the United States Military and for national security purposes, I have approved the conversion of the beautiful Triumphal Arch, as planned since the Civil War years ago in the area of Receptive Circle near the Arlington Memorial Bridge, into a military complex and Triumphal Arch," Trump said on social media platform Truth Social.
According to him, the building will be used as a base and storage so that it can speed up the operation of a number of drones, and snipers both on the roof and in the plaza area.
The military area is also expected to be able to store large quantities of ammunition for sniper rifles, Trump added.
He said no country had ever had such a facility.
Of the 59 major cities and capitals, only Washington does not have a Triumphal Arch, Trump explained. The US capital, Trump said, will have the "greatest of them all."
