US President Donald Trump confirmed that the United States does not intend to hinder the development of artificial intelligence, noting that his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping liked the idea of calling this technology "superintelligence".
Trump noted that President Xi Jinping liked the idea of calling the technology "super-intelligence," saying: "An artificial term that suggests it's not real, which is not true; it's very powerful intelligence. I call it super-intelligence , and he liked the idea of the renaming because it's more accurate."
The White House had previously announced that Washington and Beijing had reached understandings to establish a communication channel to discuss various incidents related to artificial intelligence.
During his visit to the United States, the Chinese president stated that Beijing and Washington share a common responsibility to keep the development of artificial intelligence under human control , subjecting it to supervision and directing it to serve humanity.
For his part, Trump asserted last week that the United States already has well-established controls to regulate and prosecute artificial intelligence companies, in an effort to dispel concerns expressed by leaders of this technology about the misuse of artificial intelligence in ways that could harm humans.
