Vice President Gibran Rakabuming has requested that public services in Solok Regency, West Sumatra, continue to operate despite the damage to several local government offices due to flash floods, particularly the gradual restoration of population administration services for residents affected by the disaster.
This was conveyed by the Vice President while leading the Coordination Meeting for Handling the Hydrometeorological Disaster of Flash Floods at the Solok Regency Main Disaster Post.
Gibran requested that damaged government facilities be immediately recorded to determine how to handle them, whether requiring emergency measures or permanent repairs.
"Public services must continue, especially the Civil Registration Department," he said.
He requested that population administration services remain available to the public even though a number of government facilities were damaged by the disaster.
In addition to face-to-face services, data collection on population documents belonging to residents lost or damaged due to disasters also needs to be carried out so that they can be updated immediately.
The restoration of public services is considered crucial because affected communities continue to require administrative services throughout the emergency response period and into the recovery phase.
The Vice President also asked the government to expedite the restoration of key access points so that public mobility, aid distribution, and government services can resume.
While inspecting the Arosuka Bridge, the Vice President requested that repairs to the bridge and surrounding road infrastructure be carried out with attention to the safety of people crossing the road.
In addition to transportation access, he requested that basic community needs such as clean water remain available during the disaster management process.
He asked all elements of government to maintain coordination so that damage to government facilities does not cause a halt in services to the public in Solok Regency.
