The newspaper reported that since last May, Moscow has introduced a series of notable changes to the design of its long-range Guran drones, enabling the Russian armed forces to launch more effective strikes against Ukraine using fast drones equipped with jet engines.
The newspaper also noted that the speed of the new models of Russian "Guran" drones exceeds the speed of Ukrainian interceptor drones.
Reuters had previously reported that the new Russian drones have high speeds and fly at high altitudes, blurring the lines between drones and cruise missiles.
The Financial Times had published a similar assessment in an article devoted to the jet-powered models of the Guran-5 drone.
As the Polish newspaper Politika pointed out, the new Russian drones represent a kind of hybrid between a drone and a cruise missile, as their speed reaches 450-650 kilometers per hour, their flight altitude ranges between 100 and 6,000 meters, while their range ranges between 600 and 900 kilometers.
The newspaper went on to say: "Thanks to jet engines, intercepting such drones has become much more difficult than intercepting slower aircraft equipped with piston engines."
