Ginting won in two straight games, 21-17, 21-17. Despite securing a straight-game victory, the sixth-seeded badminton player admitted he was still trying to find his best form.
"Thank God I was able to finish the match unscathed and played well. It was a tight match from start to finish in the second game," Ginting said after the match.
He revealed that he was a few points behind in the second game. However, he struggled to find the right rhythm and playing style to navigate the match situation, including the differences in winning and losing conditions on the court.
He also tried to carry out the coach's instructions to overcome these obstacles and maintain the lead until the end of the match.
According to him, his current performance hasn't fully returned to what he expected. Therefore, he still needs time to rediscover his best form, especially given his current condition and age compared to a few years ago.
"I'm still trying to find my form. I couldn't say I was back to 100% in the first and second games, but I'm still slowly getting back to my old form. It does take time to find my old form again," he said.
