The ministry said in a statement that the depletion of oils threatens to cause the remaining generators to collapse and cease operation, warning that this could lead to the "immediate mechanical breakdown and deterioration" of the generators, which operate in "complex engineering and technical conditions."

She explained that the hospitals' needs for oils to operate the generators exceed 2,500 liters per month, noting that she had repeatedly warned that "emergency solutions," based on providing limited quantities of oils, do not guarantee the continued operation of the generators, given the increasing consumption of oils due to long working hours and the urgent need for maintenance.
The ministry called on the relevant authorities to assume their humanitarian responsibilities and intervene immediately to ensure the entry of oils and spare parts necessary for the continued operation of electrical generators in hospitals.
The warning comes after the ministry announced on September 16 that 70 percent of hospital electricity generators were out of service due to shortages of fuel, oil and spare parts caused by the Israeli blockade.
Hospitals in the sector have been relying on electric generators to provide the energy needed to operate medical equipment and vital departments since Israel cut off electricity supplies to Gaza in October 2023, and the only power plant stopped operating due to fuel depletion.
The crisis is worsening despite the ceasefire agreement in place since October 2025, amid continued Israeli restrictions on the entry of supplies needed to rehabilitate the health system, which suffered extensive damage during the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip since October 2023.
