This model is currently being tested as a limited experimental research version with a small group of testers, and it is distinguished by its ability to generate ultra-realistic videos that can be edited in real time using simple language commands.

Excited to share Genie 4 today our most realistic and interactive world model: - Steer dynamic environments in real time, shaping events, camera angles, and actions - Generate native audio matched to the world, from realistic background sounds to characters who can converse in real time! - simulate photorealistic scenes and real-world physics - create more coherent multi-step events through reasoning from Gemini We've started to roll out as a research preview to trusted testers. Coming soon to Google AI Ultra subscribers in Project Genie and early access partners via the Gemini API and AI Studio.

The Genie 4 can automatically generate sound that matches the visual scenes, enhancing the user experience. This model also represents a significant leap forward in motion simulation and facial expressions, making them smoother and more realistic compared to its predecessor, the Genie 3.

Global models are being developed to be able to learn from limited training data, allowing them to simulate the world around them rather than simply arranging words. In this context, some experts, such as computer scientist Yann LeCun, suggest that these models are the step toward achieving true artificial general intelligence

Google confirmed that Genie 4 comes with strict security controls to prevent the generation of harmful content, but acknowledged ongoing challenges in maintaining visual consistency and audio accuracy during complex synthesization processes. All clips produced by Genie 4 will be marked with a "SynthID" tag to ensure transparency.

Google acknowledges that the model is still in its early stages and may struggle with visual consistency and sound accuracy during lengthy and complex simulations.

It will first be available to testing partners to gather feedback and make security improvements before a wider rollout starting with Google AI Ultra subscribers, with no date specified.

Early testers include game developers using the model to rapidly build prototypes via language commands. This comes after reports of a drop in video game stocks following the launch of Project Genie in January.
