Rasmus Hoylund stole the spotlight during his country's match against Portugal in the UEFA Nations League, after he celebrated his goal in the style of the legendary star Cristiano Ronaldo, famously known as "Siuuu," as a direct expression of his appreciation for his idol and to send a clear message against the Portuguese coach.
Hoylond spoke of his admiration for Ronaldo's career, noting that he had followed the Portuguese star's journey from his beginnings with Manchester United, through his historic experience with Real Madrid and then Juventus, up to his return to the English club
This came after Cristiano Ronaldo's sudden departure from the Portuguese national team camp in Copenhagen, on the eve of the match against Denmark, shortly after coach Jorge Jesus admitted there were tensions between the two sides.
The Danish striker said that Ronaldo had always been a great role model for him, before finding himself in what he described as a paradoxical situation, when he moved to Manchester United shortly after the Portuguese star's departure.
Hoylond explained that his presence at the English club about a year, or perhaps only six months according to his description, after Ronaldo's departure made him feel as though he was following in the footsteps of the player whom he considers a role model.
He added that Ronaldo's career was very special, praising the mentality that the player possessed throughout his career, which helped him reach the top and stay there for a long time.
Hoylond expressed his hope that Ronaldo and the Portuguese national team would be able to overcome the current circumstances, stressing that the end would be unfortunate for a player whom he considers, from his point of view, to be the greatest football player in history.
