Chairman of Commission II of the Indonesian House of Representatives Rifqinizamy Karsayuda, is targeting completion of the academic paper and draft of the Draft Law on General Elections by December 2026 or January 2027 at the latest.
Commission II of the Indonesian House of Representatives has compiled 25 agendas for the drafting of the bill, inviting various ministries, institutions, academics, organizations, and non-parliamentary political parties until December 2026.
"The academic paper and draft of the Election Bill will be completed by the end of December or early January 2027, and we will submit it as part of the DPR's initiative proposal," Rifqinizamy said at the parliamentary complex.
Meanwhile, Commission II of the House of Representatives will hold its first meeting to draft the bill with the House of Representatives' Expertise Body. Afterward, he said, the DPR will enter a recess period from October 9 to November 9, 2026.
However, even though it is still in recess, according to him, Commission II of the DPR will resume holding meetings on November 2, 2026, inviting the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Election Organizer Honorary Council.
After that, his party will continue to hold weekly meetings until December 2026, inviting various parties. A meeting with non-parliamentary political parties is planned for December 1, 2026.
"Some people took the initiative, some were invited, yes, but we have clearly included it in the agenda," he said.
