Israeli escalation in Gaza and the West Bank 4 injuries from shelling in Gaza and more than 200 settler attacks during the olive harvest season

Four Palestinians, one of them critically injured, were wounded on Thursday when an Israeli drone struck a person in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood north of Gaza City, while Israeli military operations continued in various parts of the Strip, coinciding with an escalation of settler attacks on olive farmers in the occupied West Bank.

Medical sources reported that the wounded were taken to Al-Shifa Medical Complex and Al-Saraya Field Hospital, while eyewitnesses said that at least one missile targeted a person in front of a cafe in the neighborhood. In the southern Gaza Strip, Israeli gunboats fired more than 40 shells toward the Rafah coast in about two hours, coinciding with gunfire from military vehicles and helicopters, according to eyewitnesses.

These developments come as part of Israel's ongoing violations of the ceasefire agreement in effect since October 10, 2015. According to the Ministry of Health in Gaza, these violations have resulted, as of Thursday, in the deaths of 1,505 Palestinians and injuries to 5,332 others.

In the West Bank, the United Nations announced that attacks by Israeli settlers affecting the olive harvest season have exceeded 200 since the start of the current season, compared to 185 attacks during the 2025 season.

Farhan Haq, Deputy Spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, quoted the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) as saying that these attacks resulted in the death of one Palestinian and the injury of more than 120 others, and damage to more than 2,500 olive trees or saplings, noting that about 80 percent of the incidents occurred during the past two weeks.

In the Gaza Strip, the United Nations warned that Israel’s prevention of the entry of agricultural equipment and supplies, engine oils and spare parts is hindering farming, harvesting and the operation of olive presses, at a time when orchards are being destroyed and access to agricultural lands is restricted, especially behind what is known as the “yellow line.”

The United Nations stressed the need to protect civilians, humanitarian workers and humanitarian facilities, after reports emerged that humanitarian facilities were subjected to small arms fire and Israeli artillery shelling on Wednesday, and that shots were fired near a UN convoy, though no injuries were reported.
