Ronaldo added that there was a discussion about him playing for 30 minutes against Norway before Jesus backed out of this agreement, confirming his willingness to accept any punishment after leaving the camp.
The Portuguese newspaper A Bola quoted Jesus as telling the media after Ronaldo's statement: "I was in Leiria watching the national team's (under 21) match. I will read the statement now, and I have nothing to say."
According to the Portuguese newspaper report, Jorge Jesus added that he is expected to respond to the statement at a later time.
Ronaldo and Jesus collaborated in leading Al-Nassr to win the Saudi Professional League title last season, and many expected the strong relationship to continue with the Portuguese national team, before the sharp disagreement occurred and things took a bad turn.
