The Russian technology corporation Rostec has developed a passive radar that detects blind spots in infrastructure and industrial protection, and monitors silent drones by taking advantage of the reflections of their bodies along their path.

The radar system can detect small, silent drones that are invisible to electronic reconnaissance and radar-sensing missiles.
In order to detect targets, the station uses signals reflected from external sources, such as terrestrial television and radio broadcasting stations. The radar itself does not emit anything, but only receives, and therefore does not reveal its location.
A source at Rostec explained that "even if an enemy suicide drone shuts down all jamming equipment, communication channels, and satellite navigation systems and flies using continuous navigation hoping to pass undetected, it cannot ignore the atmosphere around it, where dozens of radio transmission towers are constantly emitting signals. Our radar picks up the reflections of these normal transmission signals from all surrounding objects, including the drone. By processing the change in the reflected wave, the system realizes that the object is moving and calculates its coordinates. The drone thinks it is in radio silence, but it is completely exposed to our radar."
The system's effectiveness increases when it is integrated with technologies that work in conjunction with radio monitoring devices and electronic jamming equipment, which not only allows it to detect the penetrating drone but also provides immediate target indication to friendly electronic warfare and air defense systems.
It is worth noting that the new self-propelled radar algorithms weigh only 180 kg and do not cause interference with civilian equipment, allowing them to be used in urban areas and near airports without disrupting normal communications.
