Speaking at a press conference held to launch a prestigious literary magazine called "Letsovremennik," he said: "Now we are very close to the moment when human nature could undergo radical changes, probably within a single generation."
Lukyanenko did not rule out the possibility that artificial intelligence could become a form of human existence in the future, after the end of biological life:
"I mean probably the ideal version of the future in which artificial intelligence will become a form of human existence after the end of biological life. This is entirely possible. Of course, this sounds like one of the most optimistic dreams of post-humanists, but there are grounds for it."
It is worth noting that Lukyanenko is one of the most prominent science fiction and fantasy writers in Russia, and he became famous worldwide for his "Passages" series of novels.
He was born in 1968 in Kazakhstan, graduated from the Alma-Ata Medical Institute in 1990, and worked briefly as a psychiatrist before devoting himself to literature.
He began writing at the age of eighteen, and his first story was published in 1988. He then achieved widespread fame with his novel "The Forty Musketeers" (1992).
His most famous works include the "Patrols" series ("Night Patrol," "Day Patrol," "Twilight Patrol"), and novels such as "The Labyrinth of Reflections," "Spectrum," and "The Genome." The screenplays for the "Night Patrol" and "Day Patrol" films were also based on his novels.
In his statements, Lukyanenko often addresses issues of the future of humanity and technology, and believes that artificial intelligence may radically change human nature within a single generation, and may even become a form of existence after biological death, which reflects his interest in the philosophy of post-humanism.
