Saudi Arabia affirms political and military support for Yemen

Saudi Arabia has affirmed its political and military support for the Yemeni leadership, government, and people to end the coup carried out by the Houthi militia and restore the government and state institutions.

"The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia affirms its full political and military support for the Presidential Leadership Council, the Yemeni government, and its people to end the coup and restore the country and its institutions from the Houthi militia," said Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Indonesia Faisal Abdullah Al-Amoudi.

This was conveyed by Ambassador Faisal during a press conference discussing the latest developments in the region at the Saudi Arabian Embassy.
.
"Since the Houthi terrorist militia's coup against the legitimate government in Yemen in 2014, Saudi Arabia has made strong and continuous efforts with all Yemeni parties and the UN Special Envoy for Yemen to reach a comprehensive and sustainable political solution in Yemen," he said.

However, the Ambassador continued, the Houthi militia continues to reject peace efforts and is obstructing the achievement of a comprehensive political solution in Yemen. "The Houthis prefer continued military escalation," he said.

Faisal said the Houthi military escalation has exacerbated the humanitarian and economic suffering of the Yemeni people while threatening regional security, including airports, ports, and international trade routes in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait.

He added that the Houthis are directing the resources and capabilities of the Yemeni people to fund missile and drone weapons that threaten Saudi security and the region, including threats to airports, ports, maritime navigation, and international trade in the Bab al-Mandab Strait, in the Red Sea, as well as commercial vessels in the sea.

Faisal emphasized that Saudi Arabia, through the International Coalition, supports legitimacy in Yemen and coordinates with the legitimate Yemeni government to support the country's ability to uphold its security and stability.
