Saudi Arabia condemns Houthi attacks as military escalation

Saudi Arabia  condemned Houthi attacks targeting several civilian facilities and holy sites in the kingdom and said the group had chosen military escalation despite Riyadh's efforts to support a political solution in Yemen.
the Saudi Arabian Foreign Ministry condemned the Houthi actions that continue to target citizens as well as civilian and economic facilities.

Saudi condemned "open and repeated attacks" on the holy cities of Mecca and Medina.

It also condemned the attacks on the capital Riyadh and the cities of Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan, Najran, Taif, and Yanbu, including attacks on Saudi ships in the southern Red Sea and the Bab El-Mandeb Strait.
According to the Saudi Foreign Ministry, the Houthis targeted Mecca and Medina using missiles and drones .

However, this has been denied by the group from Yemen.

Houthi attacks on other locations in the kingdom, including energy production facilities, have caused civilian injuries and material damage.

Saudi Arabia, he explained, has an "inherent right" to defend its territory, resources and sovereignty, and to take all necessary measures to protect its citizens and residents.

This right is in accordance with international law, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated clearly.
The ministry stated that since the Houthis took over power from the internationally recognized Yemeni government in 2014, Saudi Arabia has made continuous efforts to support a comprehensive and lasting political solution.
