The Indonesian government is currently aligning its efforts to build data centers and AI factories to integrate them with energy planning, ensuring that digital technology development goes hand in hand with the readiness of supporting infrastructure.

"Matters related to the development of AI Factories, including AI Factory data centers, must no longer be carried out separately sector by sector, but rather through strong coordination," said Communications and Digital Minister Meutya Hafid at Bali Tech Week (BTW) 2026.

AI Factory is a large-capacity computing infrastructure that provides processing power to develop and operate various artificial intelligence (AI) services.

Meutya stated that AI infrastructure development should no longer be planned separately by each sector. One such development relates to the energy ecosystem, which is a crucial foundation for the sustainability of AI development, both in Indonesia and globally.
