Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Taufik Hidayat said the government is preparing to pay more attention to several sports in its development program leading up to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

"God willing, starting next year and continuing through the Olympics, the government will focus on more than just badminton. Several other sports will also receive more attention than in previous years," Taufik said at the Indonesian Badminton Team's Achievements at the 2026 Asian Games at the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) National Training Center in Cipayung.
According to Taufik, increased attention is needed because athlete development cannot be done instantly, especially as competition for the 2028 Olympics is getting tighter.
He said government support must cover needs related to improving athlete performance, from training programs and participation in competitions to various supporting aspects.
Taufik said President Prabowo Subianto also paid attention to the development of national sports, including the achievements of the Indonesian contingent at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.
