Turkish FM pushes for diplomatic resolution of Middle East, Ukraine conflict

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will call on the international community to increase pressure on Israel and push for a diplomatic solution to the conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine.

He will make the call at the upcoming G20 foreign ministers' meeting in Atlanta, United States, a Turkish Foreign Ministry source told RIA Novosti.

"Fidan will emphasize the importance of increasing international pressure on Israel, as Israel's ongoing attacks and uncompromising stance are hampering international efforts to achieve peace in the Gaza Strip."

Turkey's top diplomat also plans to convey Ankara's interest in resolving differences between the United States and Iran through dialogue and diplomacy.

According to the source, continued hostilities only exacerbate instability in the region.

Fidan will also highlight the negative impact of attacks on ships and energy infrastructure in the Black Sea, the Strait of Hormuz, the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, and the Persian Gulf region.

These attacks threaten global energy and food security, as well as disrupt international trade, the source said.

"In his statement, Fidan will also highlight the risks associated with the widening and escalation of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. He will convey that Turkey continues to communicate with both sides to restore security in the Black Sea," the source added. The G20 foreign ministers' meeting will take place in Atlanta on October 30-31.

Fidan is scheduled to speak at a session discussing geopolitical tensions, energy, and supply chains.
