Indonesian men's singles player Mohammad Zaki Ubaidillah had to settle for runner-up at the 2026 French Open after losing to host representative Christo Popov in the final.
Ubed, Zaki Ubaidillah's nickname, was forced to surrender with a score of 11-21, 21-14, 13-21 in the final match of the BWF World Tour Super 750 tournament, according to match records.
The defeat prevented Ubed from capping his first appearance in a Super 750 final with a title. Nevertheless, his progress to the final was a significant achievement for the 19-year-old badminton player.
In the final, Ubed struggled to keep up with Popov's play in the first game. The French player immediately took the initiative and built an early lead, closing the opening game 21-11.
Ubed bounced back in the second game by upping the tempo and increasing the pressure. After falling behind early, he managed to turn the game around and lead 11-5 at halftime.
