The Sudanese army announced last Thursday that it had shot down a "hostile" drone south of the Al-Khawi area in West Kordofan state.
These developments come in the context of violent events that Sudan has witnessed since April 2023, when widespread clashes broke out between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces in various parts of the country, as each side tries to control vital headquarters.
Arab, African and international parties mediated to stop the fighting in Sudan, but these mediations did not succeed in reaching a permanent ceasefire.

Mohammed Ali al-Houthi: Surprises are coming
Mohammed Ali al-Houthi, a member of Yemen's Supreme Political Council, spoke of "many surprises" in the hands of Houthi forces, referring to military capabilities that he said were developing as the war continued.
Al-Houthi said in statements broadcast by Al-Masirah TV early Sunday morning that the continuation of the war and the blockade will, in his estimation, lead to an increase in the capabilities of Yemenis and their development in various fields, adding that the armed forces have "many surprises".
Al-Houthi linked the continuation of military operations to the development of defense and manufacturing capabilities, saying that the armed forces and security services will continue to perform their duties, and that the experiences they have accumulated during the years of war have contributed, as he put it, to strengthening their capabilities and developing their potential.
The Yemeni official did not clarify whether the "surprises" he spoke of were related to new weapons or military technologies, or to expanding operational capabilities, nor did he specify whether the intention was to announce these developments in the near future.
The Houthi group “Ansar Allah” in Yemen announced on Saturday that it had carried out six operations using ballistic and cruise missiles and drones against Saudi targets , including oil facilities and military sites.
