Campus League Head of Competition Dave Leopold, in an official statement in Jakarta, Friday, said that UPI's emergence as the Bandung regional futsal champion indicates a shift in the power map that makes the Campus League always interesting every year.
He said that in order to remain consistently among the elite ranks of regional and national competitions, each campus must ensure the regeneration of student athletes on their teams is running smoothly.
Dave believes that the interesting thing about the Campus League is that the team strengths vary every year because there are always players graduating and new recruits.
He explained that the competition between the teams in the event which took place from October 30 to November 6 at the ITB Sports Center, Jatinangor, was very competitive.
The UIN SGD team, the 2025 national champions, lost in the regional semifinals and advanced to the Nationals in third place. This was due to a squad that wasn't as strong as the previous year.
"So, what's unique about playing in the Campus League is that if a team can't manage their player recruitment, they have to start from scratch," he said.
