German Chancellor Olaf Schulz declared Friday that his country should become the "best-equipped armed force" in Europe.
"We Europeans have to take on much greater responsibilities in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO)," Schulz told German army officers in Berlin, according to the European Euronews network.
He added that Germany should become the "best-equipped armed force" in Europe, after years of "wrong" analyzes that his country would be "surrounded by friends".

The German army is one of the 30 largest military forces in the world, the second largest military force in the European Union after France in terms of personnel, and the seventh best funded army in the world.
