Why did the Chinese representative meet the dictators? Former General U Than Shwe, Chinese representative Peng Xiubin; Former President U Thein Sein. Reuters, Senator Koko Pimentel's Facebook It was reported that Peng Xiubin, Director General of International Relations of the Communist Party of China, visited former dictator U Than Shwe and former President U Thein Sein from April 16 to 19. At the same time, U Than Shwe, chairman of the military council and former dictator, The news also emerged that former president U Thein Seinu had met. Dr. Hla Kyaw Zao, a researcher of Burmese affairs, said that a top official of the Chinese Communist Party secretly came to the meeting because the military council wanted to warn the Burmese people that the military council had become unruly. "From what I see, the military council has become unruly, and I think they should be warning. If this continues, it may be difficult for them to protect them at the United Nations. I would like to warn them. I saw that their diplomatic method is no longer consistent with not interfering in domestic affairs like it used to be." Neither the Communist Party of China nor the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar have released any news regarding Peng Xiubin's visit to the meeting, nor has the Military Council released any news. U Bobo Oo, vice chairman of the National League for Democracy Party of Sanchaung Township, said that the Chinese Communist Party wanted to know the opinion of former Myanmar military officers, so it is possible to come to the meeting. "The People's Republic of China will interact with all the organizations in Myanmar. When they interact with each other, they will carefully study their policies from all angles in order to plan their policies. The people led by these former generals, the former dictator U Than Shwe and the former president U Thein Sein, of course listen to what they have to say. In my opinion, I want to listen mainly to the voice of the ex-military people. I don't know what to say. I don't know what to do. But the army is the most urgent thing we have to do." He also said that this meeting was unique, but not top news. In addition, U Bo Bo Oo criticized the Chinese government for not studying the situation of Burma and the Burmese people. On September 9, 2021, U Bo Bo Oo joined the Chinese Communist Party and Southeast Asia. He also participated as NLD party in South Asian countries' political party talks. Regarding Peng Xiubin's visit to China, China has expressed its concern to the people of Burma. So Dan, a researcher of ethnic affairs in the Taang region, said that they do not want the military council to fall, which is in favor of the ethnic groups. "As far as China is concerned, this is the northern ethnic armed forces based in Shan State. Especially regarding the FPNCC, they are facing a lot of pressure. The armed forces are facing a lot of pressure. In particular, they do not want the army to be completely destroyed until the people of Burma want the army. One thing is that they are playing with fire and water on the Tairin side." If you look at the state of China's international relations, he said, he is always working to prolong the life of dictators and former dictators, looking only at his own interests. If China wants to help solve Myanmar's problems, it would be best to talk to the people of Myanmar, said Dr. Sasa, the Union Minister for International Cooperation of the NUG government. "In reality, whether it's Thein Sein, Than Shwe or Min Aung Hlaing, they have committed a lot of violence and they know that there is no way out for them. In fact, if China wants to help solve Myanmar's problems, it has to talk to the people of Burma. All talks and meetings without the will of the people of Burma are futile and will never succeed." A member of the People's Defense Forces of the Southern Region criticized that the Communist Party Director General's visit may be to take advantage of Myanmar's difficulties and crises. "In a situation where many people's lives and property are being destroyed due to the unjust torture and killings of the terrorist army, I see that this kind of arrival without making a sound comes to exploit our country's difficulties and crises. Because China is a neighboring country of Myanmar, the resources that have been in Myanmar since successive military dictatorships, be it internal resources, Whether it's a forest or Whether it's gems, natural gas, or any resource, they are coming to suck the gobs. What I see is why Burma should put pressure on them. When the country's economy is not recovering due to the increase in military spending, Min Aung Hlaing is in a difficult position for China. We contacted the Chinese Embassy about these meetings, but we have not heard back yet, and RFA has not been able to independently confirm.

Lim Kkeok-jeong in North Korea is a symbol of class struggle

MC : Hello listeners in North Korea , it's time for < Do Myeong-hak's Inter-Korean Literary Journey > . It's a red albeos in progress .  At this time, we will talk about the literary works of North and South Korea with North Korean defector novelist Do Myeong-hak . hello teacher

Do Myung-Hak : Yes , how are you ?

MC: Today, we're going to talk about Butcher Lim Kkeok-jeong, who is well known in South and North Korea . First, I'd like to talk about writer Hong Myung-hee, who wrote the saga Lim Kkeok-jeong . What kind of person was Hong Myung-hee ?

Myeong-Hak Do : Yes, honestly, when I was in North Korea, I was attracted to Lim Kkeok-jeong, which was made into a novel and a movie, but I knew very little about the author, Hong Myung-hee . However, the fact that he was a person who moved from South Korea to North Korea and that he completed the unfinished novel Lim Kkeok-jeong in North Korea , and that he served as the first deputy prime minister after the establishment of the North Korean government. It seems that it was all about the fact that it was a prize , and that the North Korean writer Hong Seok-joong was his grandson .

MC: Do North Koreans know about Hong Myeong-hee ?

Do Myeong-hak : Well , since I only knew this much, the general public who is not directly related to the literary world probably knows more . The work Lim Kkeok-jeong enjoyed high popularity, but not much is known about the author . So, I think it would be meaningful to take this opportunity to introduce Hong Myung-hee to the listeners who will be listening to this broadcast in North Korea .

Myunghee Hong's pen name is Byeokcho. Byeokcho Hong Myung-hee's father served as a county governor during the Joseon Dynasty , which is called the Ijo period in the North. Her family was a prestigious nobleman , and Hong Myung-hee was born in 1888 as the eldest son . However, she lost her mother when she was three years old . As a result, her father remarried, and her half-brothers and sisters were born, and they later helped Hong Myung-hee by participating in the management of the Seida Ilbo and the Shinganhoe movement, which Hong Myung-hee was involved in later .

In 1900, at the age of thirteen, Hong Myung- hee married the daughter of Champan Min-yeong-man . In 1901 , the year following his marriage , he entered a school called Junggyouisuk. In 1906 , he left for Japan to study and transferred to Tokyo Commercial Law School to prepare for further studies . I read a lot of books in a variety of fields . He was particularly fond of Russian literature and the English romantic poet Byron .

MC : So, did you start writing at that time ?

Myeong-Hak Do : Myung-Hee Hong also became acquainted with Kwang-Soo Lee of Chunwon and Nam-Seon Choi of Yukdang, and contributed several articles to 『Daehanheunghakbo』, starting his first social and literary activities . While studying in Japan, he clearly witnessed the reality of the forcibly dismantled 'Nara' Joseon . In this situation, Byeokcho was forced to return to Korea with a break from his studies, driven by a desperate feeling that something more fundamental was needed . Hong Myeong- hee left her hometown in 1912 and 'wandered' in Shanghai , Nanjing , and Nanyang, participating in the independence movement and the patriotic enlightenment movement , before returning to Korea in 1918 . Byeokcho made his father's will, "Do not dishonor yourself by being pro-Japanese," his lifelong motto . Hong Myung- hee left Shanghai in November 1914 , right after the outbreak of World War I, and headed for Namyang .

MC : What did writer Hong do after returning to his hometown ?

Do Myeong-hak : After returning from exile abroad, Hong Myeong-hee conspired to hold a movement for national independence . Meanwhile, from this time, Hong Myung-hee, she was a breakthrough in the national liberation movement, and she was interested in socialist ideas and participated in the New Thought Research Group, Hwayohoe, and Jeongwoohoe, which were ideological groups of radical intellectuals, and acted as members . At this time, she established a certain relationship with the Joseon Proletarian Arts League, which had a great influence in the Joseon literary world . She also served as principal of Osan School in Jeongju, Pyeongbuk, Hong Myeong-hee, but after her resignation, she began serializing her historical novel Im Kkeok-jeong in the Chosun Ilbo in November 1928 .

After liberation in 1945 , Hong Myeong-hee served as the chairman of the Central Executive Committee of the Joseon Literary Association, and organized the Labor People's Party with Yeo Woon-hyung . Since then, he has been involved in major political activities as Deputy Prime Minister of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and is known as one of the figures who opposed the Korean War . In September 1948 , he was elected as the first deputy prime minister of North Korea's cabinet, and served as a delegate to the Supreme People's Assembly and vice chairman of the Supreme People's Assembly Standing Committee until 1968 . While most of the people who defected to North Korea were purged, she can say that Hong Myung-hee enjoyed a successful life . Hong Myung-hee's stepmother was murdered during the Korean War because she was a family member of a North Korean defector .
However, it is said that there is also an ugly side between Kim Il-sung and Hong Myung-hee. The story is that in 1956, Hong Gwi-won, the daughter of Hong Myeong- hee, who worked as a secretary for Kim Il-sung's second wife Kim Seong-ae, became pregnant suddenly while having adultery with Kim Il-sung . It is said that he died while giving birth , and in fact, it can be said that Kim Il-sung felt guilty and took better care of Hong Myung-hee because of this .
Currently, Hong Myeong-hee's birthplace is preserved in Goesan-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do.

MC : What was the reason that writer Hong Myung-hee went to North Korea ?

Do Myeong-hak : The opportunity to defect to North Korea came from attending the 'Inter-Korean Party and Social Organization Joint Meeting' held in Pyongyang in April 1948 with Kim Gu and others, and then remained in North Korea . The U.S. military government made the mistake of ex post facto approval of illegal currency excessively issued by the Japanese Government-General of Korea, and the fiscal deficit was resolved by printing Chosun banknotes, causing hyperinflation in the economy under the US military government . On the other hand, North Korea succeeded in normalizing its economy quickly, and there are evaluations that the fact that North Korea's future was economically bright at least at the time was also a factor in his stay in the North .

( Song : “ Flowing like a river ”, singer Jang Sa-ik , title : “ Flowing like a river ” / Source : Autumn Wanderer ):

MC : I understand that Hong Myung-hee's Lim Kkeok-jeong was originally serialized in the Chosun Ilbo, a South Korean daily newspaper . I heard that Lim Kkeok-jeong was very popular at the time . Have you ever heard of how popular it was ?

Do Myung-hak : Yes, I think it was very popular at the time . The novel 『Im Kkeok-jeong』was published serially in the 《Chosun Ilbo》 for about 10 years from 1928 and was loved by a wide range of readers. it is Immediately after liberation, the trial of 『Im Kkeok-jeong』 was published , and it is said that it was especially popular and widely read by a new generation of readers who were educated only in Japanese during the colonial period and then received education in Korean for the first time after liberation .

However, after that, writer Hong Myeong-hee defected to North Korea and held a high-ranking position in the North, so his novel 『Im Kkeok-jeong』 was banned in South Korea for a long time . Therefore, 『Im Kkeok-jeong』, which had only a faint reputation as a classic masterpiece by a legendary writer, was re-published only in 1985 and caused an extraordinary sensation in the reading world . Also, since that time, when publication and research on the works of writers who defected to North Korea were allowed , interest in Hong Myung-hee grew and the position of 『Im Kkeok-jeong』 in literary history was newly evaluated .
Today, Lim Kkeok-jeong has become a famous figure whose name is written on civil documents in government offices following Gil- dong Hong . Just as Hong Gil-dong became famous through the novels of Heo Gyun in the Joseon Dynasty , Lim Kkeok-jeong was resurrected as a famous figure in history when Hong Myung-hee chose him as the main character of a historical novel and novelized his activities .

MC : Then, what is the plot of the novel Lim Kkeok-jeong ?
Do Myeong-hak : Since the content of the novel is so vast, I don't think there will be enough time to follow the flow of the work and talk about the detailed plot . Also, since it is a work that is very well known to both North and South Koreans, I don't think it is necessary . However, I think it would be better to outline the novel with focus on the fact that the plot of this novel is a novel with a unique texture .
MC: Yes , as we talked, it was almost time to close . Next week, we will continue to take a closer look at the novel Lim Kkeok-jeong . Thank you sir .

Do Myung Hak : Yes , thank you for your hard work .

MC : We'll see you again next week . Goodbye everyone . _
